La Alma-Lincoln Park's Initiatives

join-a-team-button

Beautification - improving the curb appeal of the neighborhood by increasing community participation in stewardship of personal and public spaces. Projects to include community garden projects, park and alley clean ups, Road Home Homeless work program partnership, dog waste bag installations, and xeriscaping workshops.

Less is More - promoting responsible consumerism by reducing the consumption of unnecessary materials/resources and increasing environmentally responsible disposal of organic, recyclable and hazardous materials. Some proposed approaches include a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) initiative encouraging the consumption locally grown food, a hard-to-recycle day, neighborhood yard sales, composting initiative, sustainability fair, and walkability happy hour at Renegade.

Sustaining the Sustainability - establishing structure to support long-term growth and success of the La Alma-Lincoln Park Sustainable Neighborhoods program. Through a combination of recurring outdoor community events, quarterly workshops, establishment of a leadership team and participation from members with incentive opportunities, the neighborhood intends to maintain its sustainable vision through action long into the future.
